Baja California Sur - there are no advisories for Los Cabos!  Safe to travel and vacation to!  However, please read the full advisory if your travels take you into Mexico.

Cabo Azul Resort makes Expedia's Elite 500

It is official, Cabo Azul Resort is a 2011 Expedia Insider’s Select winner. Basically what this means is that we are in an elite group of hotels to get this designation. Expedia has over 130,000 hotels in their system and the Expedia Insider’s Select list is comprised of the top 500 hotels or, the top .4% of the hotels represented.

Is Los Cabos safe to travel to?

Cabo Azul Resort is a hip and trendy award winning resort and resides in the safe and secluded Los Cabos area at the southern tip of Baja California Sur. The relaxing Los Cabos area is in the unique position where the majestic Pacific Ocean meets with tranquil and abundant Sea of Cortez. Tourism is one of the main industries in Los Cabos and it is geared towards the traveler who enjoys the warmth of the sun and the hospitality and culture of the locals. Because tourists are so important to life in Los Cabos, the government, local businesses, resorts, and people of Los Cabos have created a safe and relaxing environment for travelers and locals alike.

As the US State Department recently issued a travel advisory for Mexico, be advised that Baja California Sur and Los Cabos was not part of that travel advisory. The advisory targeted several specific areas of Mexico and you may read the warning for yourself at http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/tw/tw_5440.html. Both physically and culturally, Los Cabos is separated from the events taking place in a few other Mexican destinations. Los Cabos remains a safe environment to vacation.

Travel with Confidence to Los Cabos

Travel to any destination you are not familiar with can illicit fear even among the most seasoned travelers.  That fear is compounded when there are so many news reports that warn of violence and corruption at any destination.  Our advice to everyone is to research your destination and plan accordingly.

One of the first things to look at is the US State Department Travel Advisories website.  Pay special attention to the cities within those advisories.  As we are specifically concerned about travelers' perceptions about Los Cabos in Baja California Sur, please take special note that Los Cabos is not mentioned in the most recent Mexico travel notice by the state department.

You will be happy to note, and not just from us, (again, do your own research), that there have not been any reports of gang violence in Los Cabos where travelers need to be concerned.  Likewise, the local and state police have a very strong presence in Los Cabos that dissuades any such activity.  That doesn't mean that you go to Cabo and be ignorant to your surroundings . . . it just means that you and your family can travel to Los Cabos with assurance that this beautiful destination, rich with cultural, is a great place to visit safely.

Also, look for responsible reporting . . . this is an article posted by the Travel Diva, Ellen Creager, from the Free Press. This supports what we've been saying about travel to Cabo (or anywhere) . . . "use common" sense when traveling and be aware of your surroundings.

Every Monday evening during the summer in 2010, Cabo Azul Resort hosts an evening beach party. There is a fixed fee for attendance and then, party on! you can see from this video shot and arranged by one of our guests that everyone from young to wanna be young is having a great time. There is a live band that plays great music. The all you can eat food buffet is full of delicious local fare. There are all kinds of events to keep everyone busy and entertained. SEPTEMBER 1st

Opening of Painting Exhibition "MEXICO LIBRE" with a maximum of 100 art works of different artists at Puerto Paraiso Mall, Cabo San Lucas, BCS, exhibited from September 1st till 30, 2010. 7 p.m. (Japanese Garden)


SEPTEMBER 1st
Concert of Los Cabos Youth Orchestra at Puerto Paraiso Mall, Cabo San Lucas, BCS, 8:00 p.m. (In front of the Marina).

SEPTEMBER 2nd
Teatro de la Ciudad Miguel Lomeli, San Jose del Cabo, 8 p.m. No fee admission. Theatre play "Cananeas". On a co-production by Regional Found for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) and the Commission for the Bicentennial Celebration of Independence, the playwright Sergio Galindo, with the participation of Theatre Workshop of the UAS (Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa) and a creative crew of northwest four states, including, of course BCS. The show, which recreates the Cananea´s strike at Sonora State, in 1906, will be presented later on tour in several cities in the northwest region. From August 30 to September 8th in Baja California Sur, from October 27 to 32 in northern Baja California, and November 16 to 20 in Sonora. A total of 30 functions will be offered during the tour.

San Jose´s City Theatre, No fee admission, 20 hrs. Concierto "A WALK IN MEXICO" - A musical show celebrating the Bicentennial of our Independence and the Centennial of the Revolution. Join us to enjoy a magical ride, touring with songs that evoke the states of our beautiful country. Relive the excitement of being Mexican, listening to the interpretation of the most beautiful examples of popular poetry in a mosaic of rhythms that distinguish the different regions of the country's geography.
