MEXICO´S BICENTENNIAL PROGRAM

If you are coming this September to Los Cabos Mexico, you are in for a great celebration as San Jose del Cabo celebrates Mexico's 200th anniversary with fiestas all over town.

SEPTEMBER 1st
Opening of Painting Exhibition "MEXICO LIBRE" with a maximum of 100 art works of different artists at Puerto Paraiso Mall, Cabo San Lucas, BCS, exhibited from September 1st till 30, 2010. 7 p.m. (Japanese Garden)


SEPTEMBER 1st
Concert of Los Cabos Youth Orchestra at Puerto Paraiso Mall, Cabo San Lucas, BCS, 8:00 p.m. (In front of the Marina).

SEPTEMBER 2nd
Teatro de la Ciudad Miguel Lomeli, San Jose del Cabo, 8 p.m. No fee admission. Theatre play "Cananeas". On a co-production by Regional Found for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) and the Commission for the Bicentennial Celebration of Independence, the playwright Sergio Galindo, with the participation of Theatre Workshop of the UAS (Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa) and a creative crew of northwest four states, including, of course BCS. The show, which recreates the Cananea´s strike at Sonora State, in 1906, will be presented later on tour in several cities in the northwest region. From August 30 to September 8th in Baja California Sur, from October 27 to 32 in northern Baja California, and November 16 to 20 in Sonora. A total of 30 functions will be offered during the tour.

SEPTEMBER 05
"Baila Mexico" Folklore dance encounters, representing different states of Mexico. Educational institutions and independent folk dance groups invited to represent each one of them a different state of our republic, showing the richness of our traditions - Plaza Mijares "of San Jose del Cabo, between 6 to 10 pm.

SEPTEMBER 10
City Theatre´s Hall, 7 p.m. No fee admission. Children's Book Presentation "Where is the Angel" (Imaginative story about missing of Independence´s angel at México City) by the Mexican writer Laura Bueno. Bicentennial themes for children.

SEPTEMBER 11
San Jose´s City Theatre, No fee admission, 20 hrs. Concierto "A WALK IN MEXICO" - A musical show celebrating the Bicentennial of our Independence and the Centennial of the Revolution. Join us to enjoy a magical ride, touring with songs that evoke the states of our beautiful country. Relive the excitement of being Mexican, listening to the interpretation of the most beautiful examples of popular poetry in a mosaic of rhythms that distinguish the different regions of the country's geography. Thrill to the sounds huastecos huapangos and sighs with a serenade, vibes with “ranchera” songs and move your feet and shoulders with the tropical rhythms of the Southeast. Come and sing us the songs of our grandparents sang.

"Entre Amigos” (Between Friends). Trova Concert, with local “trovadores” Jaime Martinez, Saul Laguna and Anibal Cota, special program featuring Mexican trova, San Jose´s City Theatre. 8 p.m. / No fee admission.

SEPTEMBER 18
(From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.) For youngsters ... ... Bicentennial ROCK Concert at “El Tule” Beach. 5 mexican bands, performing good rock. 200 years as a nation, celebrating on guitar chords, bass and drums. LINE UP: * BRUJULA * HIJOS DEL LECHERO * BLACK MARIA * LOS MOJONES PALIDOS * HOLLY HOT GIRL

SEPTEMBER 23th TO 26th
Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, 2nd large-scale musical produced in the state, and following the successful "Jesus Christ Superstar" comes on this Bicentennial: Great premier of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, directed by: acting - Ricardo Pinzon Gil / vocals: Alexey Gonzalez and Lourdes Pardo / choreography, Oscar Escobedo / child chorus and choreography - Lizzie Moran. Starring: Miguel Felix – as Joseph / Miriam Daniela Sanchez - Narrator, a cast of 75 actors and actresses, singers and dancers.

PERMANENT PROGRAMS

EVERY SEPTEMBER THURSDAY – Popular music concert at Mijares Plaza, Historic – Artistic District by “Los Hermanos Pérez” band. Playing old times Mexican hits, latin rhythms, like danzon, cumbia, cha cha cha, merengue and more. From 7 to 10 p.m.

EVERY SEPTEMBER SUNDAY.- "PLAZaRTE" Permanent Program of the City, through which families will enjoy a fit of arts workshops, documentaries, concerts, entertainment and recreation, contests and many more surprises. Parallelly in “Mijares” Plaza (San José), “León Cota Collins” Plaza (Cabo San Lucas) and a Mobile Plaza in rural areas. Between 6 –10 p.m. every plaza. No fee admission, no charge per workshops.

“LUMIERE´S” CINEMA CLUB:
I.Every Wednesday, 8 p.m. SJD´s City Theater - Best of International Independent Studios.
II. Every Sunday, Matinee, 11a.m. SJD´s City Theater - Best of Films for kids.
